The acoustics laboratory was purpose built in 1967 in order to meet the challenges posed by lightweight construction techniques. The laboratory has two partition test suites; a floor and ceiling test suite and a reverberation room. The laboratory was the first acoustics laboratory to achieve accreditation in 1983 and with UKAS accreditation today, still leads the way in building acoustics excellence.

Our horizontal test suite is available to test:

• partitions
• doors
• glazed elements. 

Our vertical test suite is available to test:

• timber floors
• floating floor treatments
• suspended ceilings
• robust detail benchmarking

Our reverberation chamber is available to test:

• absorption for panels and insulation with or without a plenum

The Laboratory has a long history of work with the Gypsum Industry, and has provided testing facilities for many major new product developments. Our state of the art equipment, rapid report response time and wide range of facilities ensure that testing is high quality, accredited and completed on deadline.
